Open Water Rowing in a Stunning Location

Do you love the natural world--the plants, the animals, the seasons? Experience and capture the beauty of autumn out on the water with this unique and creative offering! Join DoryWoman Rowing and Cloe Chunn, a naturalist, author, educator and fellow Maine Guide in a nature journaling row up the Passagassawakeag River. We'll row upriver with the incoming tide and stop to observe, contemplate, write about and draw the natural environment--the fall foliage, wildlife, other scenes and inspirations. A variety of species of ducks and other waterfowl are commonly seen, as well as eagles. And sometimes seals! Imagine experiencing it all from a wooden dory boat out on the water. Guided writing and drawing are a part of this experience. Bring a journal, colored pencils, markers and pens. You can try rowing, if you'd like--or be a passenger. Refreshments are included to complement your experience. Total on the water time is approximately 1.5 hours. This row is for up to two people, ages 12 and up; under 14 with adult supervision. $95 per person. Your row begins with a safety talk, reviewing the different parts of the boat, going over rowing commands and getting seated properly and comfortably. Lifejackets (PFDs) are required on the boat. DWR will provide these--however, if you have your own PFD, please bring it. Dress appropriately for the weather. Temps can vary this time of year and the wind can be brisk. Wear comfortable synthetic, silk or wool clothing clothing, insulted/wind-resistant outerwear and footwear appropriate for the conditions. Bring water to stay hydrated. Sunscreen is recommended. WEATHER AND DWR CANCELLATION POLICY: Safety is DWR's top priority. Rows are weather dependent. DWR will go out in a variety of weather conditions, including light to moderate wind, some chop and swells, fog, rain and snow. DWR's client cancellation policy applies--please review. Cancellation Policy

A client-canceled row that happens 48 hours in advance will receive a full refund; 24 hours in advance, half the fee will be refunded.  Less than 24 hours, day of cancelations or "no-shows" will not be eligible for a refund.  A canceled row may be rescheduled one time.  A cancelation after a row has been rescheduled will not be eligible for a refund. DWR reserves the right to cancel a row at any time, for any reason, generally due to safety concerns. If this is necessary, DWR will make every effort to reschedule the row. If this is not possible, a full refund will be issued. Rows purchased for a particular service cannot be transferred to another service. Purchased Pricing Plans are for the purchaser only--cannot be used for another or transferred to another person. Gift cards can be used for Pricing Plans.
