Meet at west end of the Armistice or Footbridge near the Pierce Street lot.

Row a traditional-style wooden dory in beautiful Belfast Bay! Summer is prime time for an on-the-water adventure in Maine. Slow down, tune in, get on the oars and in your body. Immerse yourself in this gorgeous marine environment while trying something new. Soak up radiant sunny days, observe the abundant wildlife that live here, marvel at the interplay of light, sea and sky on the horizon, row through fog and mist. A totally one-of-a-kind experience that is classically Maine! All skill-levels welcome, ages 8 and up. "Row a Wooden Boat" offers you an introduction to rowing a two-oared, fixed seat wooden boat in open water (see the "Learn to Row 4-pack" for more comprehensive instruction). This is a private row, available to individuals and groups of up to three people. If you and/or your party prefer not to row and be a passenger, please note on the booking form. Dogs welcome, too! This time of year, rows are often punctuated with sightings of seals, jumping fish, osprey, eagles, cormorants, loons, gulls and a variety of ducks. Occasionally, we'll see a porpoise or otter! You'll also learn about Belfast's working waterfront and our heritage of wooden boats. Sessions are offered throughout the week in the mornings, Tuesday-Sunday. Pricing is $95 per person. DWR may be able to customize a special row for you and your party (engagements, bridal party, team-building, youth outing, etc.). Please inquire! Your row begins with a safety talk, reviewing the different parts of the boat, going over rowing commands and getting seated properly and comfortably. Lifejackets (PFDs) are required on the boat. DWR will provide these--however, if you have your own PFD, please bring it. Dress appropriately for the weather. Temps can vary and the wind can be brisk. Wear comfortable synthetic, silk or wool clothing clothing and footwear appropriate for the conditions. Bring a wind resistant jacket if it's chilly. Bring water to stay hydrated. Sunscreen is recommended. A hat can also be helpful for sun protection. Safety is DWR's top priority. Rows are weather dependent. DWR will go out in a variety of weather conditions, including light to moderate wind, light chop and swells, fog, rain and snow. DWR's client cancellation policy applies--please see below. Look forward to rowing with you!

Cancellation Policy

DWR WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY DoryWoman Rowing reserves the right to cancel a row at any time, generally for safety concerns, right up until the scheduled row time. If a cancellation is necessary due to the weather, DWR will work with you to reschedule the row. If this is not possible, a session credit will be offered. DWR CLIENT CANCELLATION POLICY Rows cancelled 48 hours in advance will be eligible for a session credit; rows cancelled after this time or "no shows" will not be eligible for credit. A cancelled row may be rescheduled one time. A second cancellation will result in losing the credit. The exception is if DWR needs to cancel a rescheduled row due to weather concerns. SERVICE POLICY A rowing service purchased is not transferrable to a different type of rowing service. Rowing packages are for the purchaser only--or if purchased as a gift, for the individual the package is purchased for. Packages can be purchased for use by two people together. Gift cards may be used for all DWR services, with some exceptions.
